Bo Sewana Foundation’s First Meritorious Deed: Empowering Lives Through Education and Sustainability

On December 16, 2018, the Bo Sewana Foundation proudly marked its first meritorious deed a meaningful beginning rooted in compassion, sustainability, and the spirit of giving. This inaugural initiative was made possible through the generous contributions of Sri Lankans living in Japan, whose support laid the foundation for our journey of service.

The event took place in the Udubaddawa Divisional Secretary’s Division in the Kurunegala District. It was a day filled with hope and purpose, as the Foundation carried out multiple impactful activities to uplift the local community.

Supporting Education: A Gift for the Future

Recognizing the importance of education in shaping a brighter tomorrow, Bo Sewana Foundation donated educational materials to 50 students from underprivileged backgrounds. These materials included school bags, exercise books, stationery, and other essentials to support their academic journey. The joy and gratitude in the eyes of these children and their families reminded us why we began this mission to open doors to opportunity through compassion and care.

Greening Lives: 1000 Fruit and Medicinal Plants for the Community

In a step toward promoting self-sufficiency and environmental awareness, the Foundation distributed 1,000 fruit and medicinal plants among the villagers. This initiative was aimed at not only encouraging home gardening and healthy living but also contributing to the long-term wellbeing of the environment. Villagers welcomed the gesture with enthusiasm, planting hope in their gardens and backyards a symbol of nourishment, healing, and growth.

Marking the Beginning: A Tree of Merit

To commemorate the very first meritorious deed of the Foundation, a tree was planted in the area a living symbol of our commitment to serve, grow, and nurture the communities of Sri Lanka. This simple yet powerful act represents the enduring vision of Bo Sewana: to foster sustainable development and compassion-driven change.

Since that humble beginning in 2018, the Bo Sewana Foundation has continued to grow with the unwavering support of well-wishers and donors around the world. We remain deeply grateful to our fellow Sri Lankans in Japan whose kindness helped sow the seeds of this journey.

We invite everyone to join us as we continue our mission; uplifting lives, empowering communities, and honoring the spirit of giving.
